Stay & Float

In an effort to get all of our wanderlust out before baby arrives, Mike and I headed to the Texas Hill Country for a fun, water-filled weekend - and our anniversary!

We rented a neat little cabin with our friends, the Andersens, which overlooked a ravine with the Guadeloupe River coursing through it. Okay, coursing is a bit strong of a word. More like gently meandering. While hitting lots of shallow spots and rocks along the way.

Which is what we did when we floated it. Oh well. We emerged only a little sun-burned and bruised, but infinitely more relaxed. As any Texas vacation necessitates, we ate copious amounts of food (shish-kabobs, taco salads, burgers, etc.), played a tiny bit of horseshoes and just enjoyed the views.

Oh, and Mike got bit by a fish.

Also, happy anniversary to us. We've made it 7 years!

Let's see, in 7 years, we've had...
  • 6 homes
  • 5 jobs for Mike, 8 for Allison
  • 1 cat named Cranberry, 1 foster dog named Sammy, 7 foster kittens, and 1 fish named Enrique
  • Trips to France, Italy, Boston, Washington DC, Mount Rushmore, California, Boise, Arizona, Montana, and Arkansas
  • 3 cars
  • Church callings in the Activities Committee, Primary and Nursery
  • Lots of "I love you"s every day
  • Infinite amounts of laughter
  • A fair share of hurt feelings and annoyances
  • A growing sense of humor and desire to overcome our obstacles
  • Gratitude for the love that brought us together all those years ago...
And keeps us going stronger every day. I love you, babe. Happy anniversary.
