Last weekend was full of blessings, and I'd be missing out majorly if I didn't take a few moments to reflect on them. The first involves one of my friends from the job at the Humane Society I had a few years back. About 6 months ago, James added me as a friend on Facebook. He was one of the volunteers that I managed and was always super nice and willing to help. A day or two after he added me as a friend, he messaged me one night and we caught up about life. A bit into the conversation, he asked me what LDS was. He has seen it as my religion on Facebook. I explained that it was also known as the Mormon religion. He was really excited and had lots of questions for me. Over the next few months, James and I had sushi a few times, he accepted my gift of the Book of Mormon and a few Christmas videos, he met Mike, I met his family and lizard, he came to church with us and we eventually introduced him to the missionaries (we had to wait until he turned 18).
Well, this past Saturday, he was baptized! It was really amazing. James asked Mike to baptize him, which was an awesome experience for Mike since he hasn't baptized anyone since his mission. It's been really neat to see James progress in the gospel - he's been so open and sincere that it has reminded me that we all should be willing to accept new truth, take it into our hearts and change.
The next blessing was literally just that - Mike's new neice's blessing in Dallas. Right after James' baptism, we headed to Dallas for the baby blessing of little miss Callie Jane Kurtz. She was so sweet in her blessing dress and it was great to be around family for a few short days. Plus, Tiffany gave me a huge Tupperware full of baby boy clothes that have been passed down through the last few boys in the Foulk family. How lucky am I!
It's great to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and to be able to witness all these life changing events. I'm so grateful that Mike and I have this security and comfort in our lives and that we get to be part of gospel as it blesses the lives of others.
