What can I say about the last few weeks? Our little guy is only 4 weeks old, and such a blessing. Besides that, he's just so much fun... and so dang cute! Those puckered lips, those blue eyes, the way he focuses on my face and grunts in recognition. So much fun.
Quite a few things have changed in the last few weeks, including:
- Having our wonderful family come visit. It's been so much fun to have Mike's sisters, mom and dad, and my mom and dad in town. They absolutely adore Eli and I just can't get enough of seeing him with Grammy or Gram or Pops. It's so precious. Mike also took a full two weeks off of work after we brought Eli home. I'm such a lucky girl!

- Awaking during the night. Yes, yes, I am deep in the midst of what everyone mentions when referencing newborns: sleep deprivation! Yes, my back is killing me from falling asleep sitting up. Yes, I did develop a truly alarming habit of locking my jaw and grinding my teeth while in said sitting position. Yes, I haven't been showering until the afternoons. Yes, I've grown accustomed to being spit up on. All the new mommy stereotypes are true. But guess what? Waking up in the middle of the night to feed Eli is-gasp!-almost fun. He's just so sweet and so patient with me. He only cries until I wake up and stumble toward him, then he is content while I bumble around in the room looking for a burp cloth, my pillow, my water... my mind... What a sweetie, even at 2 a.m.
- Taking lots and lots of photos. Eli has only been alive 4 weeks and I think I've averaged taking about 250 photos a week. Yeah. I'm a little out of control.

He's adorable. You can see such personality in those little faces he makes. I love the smile in the last picture. I agree, I wasn't ready to give up the middle of the night feedings when H. was. Enjoy those sweet, quiet times when it's just the two of you. You are such a good mommy!
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute Alli... Just in case you were wondering if it was just you that thought he was adorable. Some newborns are not so lucky. Anyhow, keep up the good work. Sleep will return or at least improve soon.
ReplyDeleteHe is just so adorable! I'm glad to know he made it here safely. You're amazing!
