Potty Humor

I came home from an outing with a friend a few months ago to find this in the yard:

Ah, my husband. He's a funny guy. I especially love that my Orange Esperanza plant was just chilling out. In my toilet bowl. On my front lawn. For all the neighbors to see.

Classy.

But the fact that our old toilet has, ahem, kicked the can is definitely a good thing. It means our upstairs bathroom is pretty much completed (and I have to be honest, it has been for a while, along with 95% of this blog post... having a baby kind of got in the way of completing both!). Anyway, both bathrooms are now decked out with energy-efficient toilets we got for FREE from the San Antonio Water System.

Toilets aren't all this blog post is about though. If you think back to the photos of our bathroom when we moved in, it had some awesome characters hanging around, like these guys:

Can you handle how amazing it was?

Nah, we couldn't either.

Since then, we have painted the upstairs bathroom, despite a debacle with the ceiling paint, installed new hardware, baseboards (to replace the old pink, orange and green ones) and a light fixture. I glazed the cabinets, a la my master bathroom, framed the mirror, framed one of my photographs, and also got some fun new decor.  We did all this, including paint, stain, hardware, new light, and even the little things like caulk, for about $300. Comparing it to our old bathroom, I feel great about upping our house's resale value. I'm counting on a pretty good ROI! At some point, we're going to get a new countertop and faucet, but we thought we'd keep the redo cost low for now.

So...here's the much anticipated before and after shots. Ready?

Before
After

After
And after.
I still kind of want to frame out the mirror, but that turned into a bigger project that I anticipated (How do you make the molding lay flat around the little things that hold up the mirror? The molding is too small to notch into, so do you build out the rest of the mirror?). Even not having that tiny bit finished, I still feel like our bathroom is much better than it used to be.

And if you happen to know anyone who loves Sponge Bob decor, I might know someone who has a net, piggy bank, soap holder, glass figurine, tooth brush holder, treasure chest, sea shell mobile....
