Rockin' Birthday

Mike's birthday was right before Halloween and we celebrated in a bit of a unique and exciting way: our first real big rock concert! When I discovered that Mike's favorite band, Chevelle, was playing on his birthday here in San Antonio, I couldn't resist the urge to buy tickets, despite vague fears about crazy, moshing, screaming people being in our general vicinity.

Turns out, they were far away enough to be amusing but not threatening. Chevelle was playing with Bush and Filter. I gave Mike the tickets the morning of his birthday, and he was pretty excited... and maybe a bit surprised that I was willing to brave the rock crowd for him.

The concert was held in this awesome venue called the Sunken Gardens. This outdoor theater was very impressive, and almost magical with the limstone cliffs, oak trees, and stone pillars surrounding the concert. It was a bit chilly, but we made it through.

Here's us before the concert:
Here's a clip of Chevelle playing:

And I even knew a few of the songs, like this one by Bush (whose lead singer is married to Gwen Stefani, interestingly enough):

I hope you had a great time, babe! Happy birthday month to us!
